Fully Returning to Practice!

Update – June 23, 2020

In keeping with Toronto’s move into COVID Reopening Phase 2 – I will resume my Manual Osteopathy Practice effective, Wednesday, June 24. Patients will be expected to adhere to the protocols outlined in my original post (please read on).

I’m looking forward to helping you! Please feel to contact me if you have any questions

*******

Welcome to my new(ish) practice! Although I’ve been on my own for just over 3 months I’ve been sidelined for most of that time due to the impact of COVID-19. (Prior to that you may remember me from my 5+ years at Toronto Bodyworks.)

I remain steadfast and on June 16, 2020 I will begin my “gradual return” to practice as a Registered Massage Therapist.

My Manual Osteopathic practice remains on-hold for the time being, presumably until Toronto enters in to “Stage 2” of reopening. I’ll post about that as soon as I know.

Of course the landscape has changed over these past three months and in accordance with my regulatory bodies (the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the National Manual Osteopathy Society) I’ve implemented changes that adhere to my new standards of practice.

As a consequence, treatments will flow a little different. See the infographic below (courtesy of the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario) for a visual overview.

Booking / Prior to Treatment

  • Don’t book a treatment if you are feeling ill.
  • You must fill out an online COVID-19 screening 24-hours prior to your appointment.
  • Please ensure you have a credit card number on file for contactless payment. Or, pre-arrange to pay via e-transfer. Cash is no longer accepted.
  • If you need to cancel last minute due to illness, I will waive my regular 50% cancellation fee.
  • Please note my RMT rates have increased by $5 to help with my additional overhead.

At Your Appointment

  • Patients must arrive wearing a facemask (homemade is okay). This mask may be worn (as tolerated) for the duration of the treatment.
  • The door to the clinic will be locked to minimize interaction with others. I will let you in.
  • If you arrive early you’re welcome to relax next door in Bennett Park. You are also welcome to wait on the front porch if the weather is inclement. Please practice appropriate physical distancing.
  • Everyone (patient and therapist) will thoroughly wash their hands upon arrival.
  • A second in-person COVID-19 screening will take place during intake. If a patient screens positive, the treatment will be discontinued and the patient will be instructed to seek further help.
  • I will wear a surgical mask during our interview and treatment. I may also wear a face shield.

Following Treatment

  • An electronic receipt will be issued after payment is received.
  • The table and room will be thoroughly disinfected and aired out; all used linens will removed and laundered; all high-touch surfaces will be wiped down and sanitized.

Yes, there’s a little more laundry in my future but that’s a small price to pay for getting to work with you once again.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions,

Mike
